About Us

History

The National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS) Library is one of the satellite libraries of the College of Science Library, UP Diliman.

The National Institute of Geological Sciences(NIGS) was created through Executive Order No. 889 by the President of the Republic of the Philippines in March 23, 1983. It became an academic unit under the College of Science with the partition of the College of Arts and Sciences into three distinct colleges in October 1983. During this period, NIGS Library was also established.

NIGS Library’s mission is to provide services and a wide variety of resources in the geological sciences to the faculty, staff, and students to enable them to become globally competitive.
